We have so much going on at all of our library locations this summer and you’re invited to all of them! On Thursday, June 2nd at 1pm at the Elwood Library, we will be hosting storyteller Priscilla Howe. She’ll be telling great stories for kids of all ages, and she’ll even bring her bag of puppets. She has been a professional storyteller for more than 20 years, and her stories are captivating. This is a program that you want to go out of your way to attend.
On Friday, June 3rd at 1pm at the Wathena Library, we’re doing experiments with electricity. We’ll learn how circuits work, and each child will get a chance to create their own circuit and see electricity in action. This program will also be held in Troy on June 14th and Highland on June 22.
At the Troy Library on June 7 at 1pm, we’re making a mess at Messy, Messy Game Day. We’ll meet at the Troy Library and head outside to play games that all have a messy twist. Come prepared to get your clothes dirty/wet.
On Wednesday, June 8 at 1pm at the Highland Library, come and make a commotion! We’ve invited a special guest for a Books and Buckets program. Learn about rhythm and storytelling as you get a chance to bang on some buckets and make a beautiful noise. All ages are invited, but appeals to kids ages 3 and older. Be prepared for loud noises!
For adults, you can come and get a little exercise every Tuesday night at the Wathena Library. We’ll have our first Retro-Fit session at the Wathena Library on June 7 at 6pm. Each week, we’ll pop in a different exercise video, as we make our way through the most beloved home fitness videos from the 80s, 90s, and 2000s. It’s always more fun to exercise if you’re laughing through it. Dress comfortably and we’ll get a little exercise along with our entertainment.
Are you a quilter? On Thursday, June 9 at the Wathena Library at 6:30pm, special guest historian Deborah Divine will present Sharing Patterns, Sharing Lives: a Kansas Quilt Workshop. Divine will tell the history of quilting in 1920s Kansas and help you make your own block in the same style. Call Wathena Library at 785-990-2665 to register for this program and get a supply list.
