Book Club Meets Author Jen Lancaster

Book club

Recently our book club went on a road trip to Kansas City. We met author Jen Lancaster. Ms. Lancaster has written many humorous memoirs on her life such as “Bitter is the new black” and “Here I go again”. Her most recent is “I regret nothing”.

The Library Book Club meets the 2nd Tuesday of each month.  We will meet at the Wathena Branch Library Tuesday, June 9th.  We will be discussing “Gone Girl” by Gillian Flynn.  For more information contact your local Branch or visit us online www.librarydistrict1.org.  We can also be reached by phone 785-985-2597 or by email librarydist1@carsoncomm.com.

Summer Reading

Summer HeroesSummer is coming quickly and we are getting so excited for Summer Reading.

Mark your calendars for Saturday, May 30th from 11am to 1pm.  We’re closing the street in front of the Troy library for a Superhero Summer Kick-off Carnival.  Play carnival games, enter to win great prizes, and get a chance to sign up for summer reading to win even more.  We’ve invited local heroes from the community, so police, fire, and emergency services heroes will be there with their vehicles for you to check out.  Come hungry, since we’ll be serving a free lunch of hotdog, chips, and a drink.
